About Therapy

Through my training I am able to offer a range of therapy:

CBT: cognitive behavioural therapy aims to work towards your goals. In doing so it gives you the tools and understanding to improve your mood and manage your emotions. The focus is on managing your thoughts and feelings to help change behaviour and mood.

Behavioural Couples Therapy (BCT): using the same principles as CBT, BCT can help couples to reconnect, fix communication problems, work through an affair or help to manage a long term condition.

Dialectical behavioural therapy: teaching skills to help with emotional regulation and distress tolerance.

Mindfulness group: an 8 week bite size course to help focus your attention, learn to be in the present moment and relax that racing mind. Lunch time group course.

Supervision: as an accredited supervisor with the BABCP I am able to supervise both qualified and trainee therapists.

“Bev supported me through a challenging time by offering a series of worry management sessions. She listened, did not judge, and then offered a series of bespoke worry management strategies that I could implement simply and effectively. If I felt it would be helpful to refine some of the techniques, she offered alternative, practical suggestions until we found something that worked meaningfully for me and fitted into my very busy daily life. After a few sessions, I found I was able to manage things much better independently and my worries were easier to deal with and were not impacting my daily life in the same way they were before her help and support. Thanks to Bev, I was not only able to overcome the challenges at the time, but I understand myself a bit better and would feel confident in applying similar strategies in the future if I ever needed to again.”

Supervision with Bev has been invaluable.  She has supervised me as a trainee and as a qualified CBT therapist in both NHS and private settings. Therefore, I can confidently say that Bev adapts to her supervisee’s clinical experience and needs at the time. Bev’s knowledge in CBT (and beyond!) is extensive and she always shares the most useful techniques. She explains steps clearly, provides examples and is always keen to role play. I have significantly developed and continue to develop my therapeutic skills under her guidance. Bev also maintains a great balance of being reflective and explorative in supervision but can also offer specific advice which is always beneficial for CBT practitioners.  Bev as a person is open, positive, friendly, and super helpful. These qualities really shine through in supervision. I know I can ask Bev anything I want because she is non-judgemental and creates a safe environment. I have been supervised by many clinicians and Bev’s ability to make you feel like you can bring any question in supervision without worry cannot compete with no one else. Bottom line is you always end supervision with Bev knowing what to do in your sessions and feeling more confident!

Five years ago after having my first child I struggled with postnatal anxiety. I had a few sessions of CBT with Bev and I have to say this changed my life. I was able to understand my anxiety and recognise the negative patterns of thinking and use strategies and techniques to deal with this. I work as a GP and still today I use what Bev taught me with patients to help them. I would highly recommend Bev to anyone who needs help with their mental health. Her caring, professional and approachable manner makes her an excellent therapist.

As a supervisor, Bev has endless patience, compassion and empathy; I have always felt listened to and extremely well supported by her. Bev is also incredibly skilled and knowledgeable. Having her guidance in supervision has helped me to think more thoughtfully and creatively about how to approach and reflect on work with a wide variety of client groups with different mental health presentations, which has been so valuable in my development as a clinician. I hope one day to be a clinician as wonderful as Bev!
